Bruce K. Misamore – Emeritus Member

 

 

 

Bruce is an Emeritus Member of the Bola Club due to his recent move back to Houston.  While he still has homes in Sedona and Houston for the time being, he is spending most of his time now in Houston.

 

From 2001 to 2005, Bruce was Chief Financial Officer, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee and a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Russia’s then largest oil and gas company and the 4th largest oil producing company in the world, YUKOS Oil Company in Moscow.  YUKOS became the largest company in history to ever be expropriated when it was taken over by Russia.  Until his final retirement in 2015, Bruce served as a director of several international companies which protected YUKOS’s international assets from expropriation by the Russian Federation, and led international legal actions against Russia for the expropriation winning over $80 billion in final international verdicts, including interest, of which Russia has paid nothing.  Prior to joining YUKOS, Bruce had been Senior Vice President – Finance and Treasurer of PennzEnergy Company in Houston, the then largest independent oil and gas exploration and production company based in the US.  A long-time veteran of the oil and gas industry, Bruce’s prior positions also included Vice President Finance and Treasurer of Pennzoil Company in Houston, various senior financial management positions with Marathon Oil Company in Houston, London and Findlay, Director of Corporate Finance for USX Corporation in Pittsburgh, investment portfolio management for The Toledo Trust Company and teaching in the Finance Department at Bowling Green State University (BGSU).  Bruce was a YUKOS representative to the World Economic Forum, a member of the Boards of the US-Russia Business Council, the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland and the Supervisory Board of Mazeikiu Nafta in Lithuania.  He is a member of Financial Executives International and was a member of the Board of its Houston chapter for many years, was a member of the Board of the Houston FEI Scholarship Foundation and was on the Board of CompUDopt, a computer adoption agency for underprivileged children in Houston.  In 2004 he was named the top CEO/CFO in Russia for investor relations by IR magazine, and was recognized as an Outstanding Graduate of BGSU.  He earned both his BSBA in finance and his MBA from BGSU (1972/73). 

 

Bruce was recognized as one of Toledo’s Ten Outstanding Young Men of 1975 and is listed in the 1978 edition of Outstanding Young Men of America, as well as various editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Industry and similar publications, and has been involved in many, many civic endeavors wherever he has lived and many alumni leadership positions at BGSU.

 

In Sedona, Bruce is co-owner of one of Arizona’s best wineries, Javelina Leap, was the Bailli (President) of the Sedona Chaine des Rotisseurs and recognized as the best Bailli in the Far West region of the US Chaine, was a major supporter of the Sedona International Film Festival and the Sedona Historical Museum, and a member of Great Decisions, a foreign policy discussion group. 

 

In addition to the Chaine des Rotisseurs, Bruce is a member of the International Wine and Food Society and is a Master Knight in the Knights of the Vine.  In Houston, Bruce is additionally a member of the Houston World Affairs Council, a member of the Houston Council on Foreign Relations, and the Nathan Hale Society, an international affairs discussions group.
